Empowering Neuro Recovery

NEUROBITE Technologies is an innovative spin-out from the University of Glasgow, focused on developing biodegradable, implantable medical devices designed to treat neurological conditions, such as stroke and epilepsy.

We are working on cutting-edge technology aimed at stimulating brain regions affected by these conditions, promoting neuroplasticity, and enhancing recovery.

Our approach is designed to reduce the need for multiple surgeries, minimise invasive procedures, and offer a more  patient-centered solution for post-stroke rehabilitation and epilepsy monitoring.

The Challenges in Stroke Recovery and Epilepsy Monitoring

Stroke recovery and epilepsy are both difficult journeys for patients and clinicians. Stroke survivors often face long rehabilitation, repeat procedures and limited options when recovery stalls. People with drug resistant epilepsy may need invasive monitoring to find where seizures start and to guide treatment, which can mean multiple surgeries and time in hospital. Clinicians need safer, less invasive, patient tailored tools that fit into real care pathways and support better long term outcomes.

Our Solution

Biodegradable Neural Probes

We aim to revolutionise post-stroke treatment and epilespy monitoring by developing a safe and effective implantable biodegradable neural probe. Our technology overcomes the limitations of conventional rigid electronics in existing neural probes by using biodegradable materials. This reduces the risk of foreign body response and chronic glial scarring.

Our Brain Implantable Transient Electronics (BITE) probes simultaneously record and stimulate affected brain regions, promoting new connections and monitoring treatment efficacy tailored to each patient’s specific needs.

Our VALUE

How we make a Difference

Empowering Patients
  • Informed Choices: We help bridge knowledge gaps, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their treatment.
  • Reduced Fears: Our technology is designed to be less invasive, addressing common fears associated with implantable devices.
Supporting Clinicians
  • Enhanced Treatment: Clinicians can reduce surgeries and scarring, promoting better patient outcomes.
  • AI-Enabled Monitoring: Advanced AI technology will help clinicians facilitate improved monitoring and treatment adjustments for patients.
Reducing surgical burden
  • Fewer procedures: Our biodegradable probes are designed to avoid removal surgery, helping reduce risk, theatre time and recovery for patients.
  • Lower long term device risk: Transient materials aim to minimise chronic foreign body response and scarring, especially where repeat monitoring is needed.

Who Can Benefit from Our Technology?

Patients

For those recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions, our technology offers a more effective, sustainable, and less invasive treatment.

Clinicians

Our solution provides healthcare providers with an innovative tool to improve rehabilitation outcomes, reduce surgeries, and offer personalised treatment plans.

Healthcare Providers

Healthcare providers can improve health economics by using transient neural probes that cut repeat surgeries and help shorten hospital stays.
